A creative brief people can actually use.

Give your collaborators a starting point, not a puzzle to solve.

A creative brief people can actually use.

A useful brief says what the project is trying to make people feel. Start with a short description of the story, its audience, and the questions you are still exploring. A few strong references can help, but explain what each reference means to you rather than leaving a collage to speak for itself.

Name the practical boundaries too: schedule, budget, locations, working arrangements, and the decisions already made. Your collaborators should be able to see where they can contribute and where the project still has room to change.

Finish with an invitation. Ask what others notice, what feels uncertain, and what they would try. A brief is most useful when it starts a conversation that the whole team can improve.
